International Day of Peace

In celebration of International Day of Peace, Sister Cities International hosted an International Peace Day +SocialGood Google Hangout surrounding this year’s theme, “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All” on Monday, September 21, 2015.

Sister city partnerships and citizen diplomacy play a crucial role in peace-building at a grass roots, person-to-person level. Speakers discussed what it means to be a peace-builder and how cities and their people can utilize citizen diplomacy as a tool to not only lessen the chance of new conflicts, but to connect with people of other cultures to build enduring peaceful partnerships based on mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation.
